WHEN I HAD MY YORKIE ON DOG FOOD SHE VOMITED AND HAD DIAHIARIA EVERY DAY. THEN ONE DAY SHE VOMITED BLOOD AND I TOOK HER TO ER AND FOUND OUT SHE HAD ACQUIRED AN ENLARGED HEART(POSSIBLY DUE TO THE CONSTANT VOMITING). I CHANGED OVER TO HOME MADE FOOD (BOILED CHICKEN BREAST, CARROTS, G.BEANS, POTATOES, O.MEAL AND YOGURT.) IT’S BEEN 2 YRS. AND SHE HASN’T VOMITED OR HAD DIAHIRIA ONCE. AND SHE LOVES HER FOOD. SHE EATS LIKE A BIG DOG.

    Cookie,

It is impossible to know what type of skin condition your dog has. Olive oil is very good – one to two tablespoons per day for a large dog, much less for a small dog. You can either add it to your dog’s food, or give it on its own (most dogs will lick it up with no problem, as most like the taste).

But if there is some illness or problem that is underlying the dry, flaky skin, this may not be enough to solve the problem. As always, you should see your vet if you are concerned about the problem.

    Regards,
    Brigitte
