Dry dog food reviews are super helpful in finding out which is the best dog food to give your pet. If you want your dog to stay strong, healthy, and live a long life, then you need to invest in good dog food for them.
Dog nutrition is one of the foundations of a healthy canine. You know the saying, you are what you eat? It is true for humans AND canines alike. If you eat junk food, you will feel lethargic, have poor skin and hair, and eventually get sick because of the lack of nutrients in your body. It is the same with our pets. Serve them cheap dog food with empty fillers and harmful preservatives, and they won’t enjoy a very good quality of life.
On the other hand, a great diet has the opposite effect. If you serve your dog food that are rich in vitamins and minerals, he will look and feel good. If you are able, it is ideal to serve up fresh and raw food to him. This means fresh meat, fruits and vegetables fresh out of the market. These ingredients are laden with moisture and excellent nutrients that you cannot find anywhere else.
Of course, for most people it is not possible to prepare this sort of diet because of lack of time and energy. If this is you, then no need to worry. You can still give your dog healthy meals with some help from dry dog food reviews.
Among the dog food packages in the market, the best ones are those that are dehydrated or freeze dried. Keep in mind that in order to preserve the food as long as possible, manufacturers often have to put in preservatives, or subject the ingredients to extreme heat. The problem with this is that not only does this remove most of the nutrient value in each bag, the chemicals in the additives will often be more detrimental to his health in the long run.
This is why dehydrated and freeze dried food is the best, they require the least amount of heat, and they do not have too much additives put in them. For dehydrated food, moisture is simply removed from the ingredients. This is also the reason why you will often find a lot of dehydrated food look different from each other and are quite similar in appearance from its original form (only more wrinkled). After soaking the dish in warm water for 20 to 30 minutes, the meal is good to go. You may even add chopped pieces of vegetables and fresh meat in them to add some nutrients in the dish.
For freeze dried food, all you need to do is to thaw them out thoroughly before serving to the dog. It does not take a lot of work and it is safe and healthy as well. Premium dog brands that dry dog food reviews rank high often have food products that have these two processing methods available to consumers.
I just realized I’ve been poisoning my little dog for 11 yrs w IAMS Proactive (lately for Seniors) ?
My daughters vet swears on Merrick but now I’m concerned about their 2 dogs. Lastly my only friend feeds his dogs Purina One.
I’m old, retired, handicapped &
SEVERELY FINANCIALLY STRAPPED. I don’t know what to do…
Hi Jan, Merrick is great. You can get it online here http://www.dog-health-care-information.com/merrick
I would not use Iams, and certainly not Purina, if I were you.
Hi Jan,
I’m so sorry I missed your comment until now.
IAMS is probably marginally better than supermarket brands, so although it’s bad, it’s probably not the worst, if that gives you some comfort.
“Merrick is a great dog food.
I definitely would not use Purina One.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
