When it comes to proper health care for your dog, nothing is more effective than taking preventive action. By learning some basic knowledge and adding a few simple measures into your daily routine, you can have the peace of mind of knowing that you are getting the best health care possible for your dog.

You can help your dog eliminate a lot of discomfort and pain as well as reduce future health problems by acting as his first aid. Applying simple actions such as finding a good vet and knowing the signs and symptoms to look for in an illness will save you a lot of time and money. Taking the time to learn how to take care of your dog, particularly before you bring him home or immediately right after, is a worthy investment to make for the sake of your dog’s health.

Pet InsuranceAfter getting a new puppy, it is good to know that he is in great shape and free of any specific health conditions or disorders that could affect him later in life. To do this, you should take him to the vet, preferably within the first two weeks after bringing him home. This way, you will know immediately if there is something wrong with him, and be in a better position to fix it right away before the problem gets any worse or develop into something incurable.

Consider Dog Health Insurance – Pet medical insurance, often referred to as VPI Pet Insurance, is something to give you peace of mind – something you can fall back on to help cover the cost of your dog’s veterinary care. Pet dog insurance (and don’t forget that this usually includes pet dental insurance – something that people often forget about, which can be very costly without [tag]pet insurance[/tag]) can give you a wide selection of pet health care plans that offer pet medical insurance cover for at least part of the cost of surgery, minor injury, routine checkups, and even dental care. It also helps pay for part of the cost of the financial expenses of a medical procedure such as a transplant or chemotherapy.

However, if you are thinking about getting pet care insurance for your dog, you have to be very careful. Do not sign up with the first one that you see, and do not pay anything unless you know exactly what you are getting. Below are some of the things that you should check for before you sign up for a pet health insurance.

1. Read the fine print. What exactly is covered and not covered in the plan?

2. Some plans have high deductibles. Shop around for one that offers the same type of coverage for a lower deductible.

3. Does the plan cover routine checkup and preventive care?

4. Some plans do not cover a dog once he reaches a certain age. Find out if the one you are looking at has an age limitation.

So if you’re interested in VPI Pet Insurance, make sure you’re informed. Oh, and if you don’t know what VPI stands for, it’s “Veterinary Pet Insurance”, so the phrase VPI Pet Insurance is a bit of a misnomer, because the words “Pet Insurance” after the “VPI” are actually redundant. Just something I thought I’d point out (I’m a bit of a stickler when it comes to correct writing – not that I always get it right, of course!)

When it comes to dog health care a person may find they are spending a fortune.Health insurance for your beloved dog just might give you the peace of mind you need if you are very bothered about its health. The cost of such will depend greatly on the plan that you intend to purchase.

For readers who are looking into pet insurance for their beloved pet, be wary of the different companies and really do your research.
Like the author says, get your pup checked out while he is still a puppy to make sure he doesn’t have any conditions or problems. Doing so and then enrolling with a good company, like Trupanion who offers superior coverage with no deductable and 20,000 lifetime coverage for puppies and kittens, will be the greatest thing you can do for the little guy.
Having personal experience with the tragic need for pet insurance, good pet insurance, I can say the last thing you EVER want to have to decide on, is your pet’s life, or your wallet. This is a choice none of us should ever have to make! We get insurance for ourselves, why not for our friend?
I lost my AKC german shephard before he even turned 1yr old from an organ failure, and had I had the coverage that Trupanion offers, I might still have him with me, stealing my underwear and picking fights with my little brother.

Do yourself a favor, and check out Trupanion. I’ve done the research, and no one even comes close… Your pet would do it for you.

We recently got a pup from the local animal shelter. In the past, we had a Lab who got cancer and cost us $6K for hsi treatment. I knew insurance for our pup was going to be a priority. Did my research and decided on a new company, Trupanion(www.trupanion.com). They specialize in lifetime coverage for puppies and kittens 8 weeks old up to 1 year. Easy to understand plan and extensive coverage. No deductibles and premiums won’t go up because of pets age or claims history. Obviously, they would not have been a consideration if our pup had been over a year old. I haven’t seen Trupanion on many lists of companies to consider, but take a look at them.

As breeders of registered rottweilers, we offer the new owners a free 6 week pet health insurance policy, compliments of CKC and petplan. Insurance is a good idea.
